Flu Vaccine in Pregnancy

Getting the flu can cause serious problems when you are pregnant – you are much more likely to need hospitalisation and deaths can occur. Serious flu symptoms can lead to miscarriage, premature labour or the need for emergency caesarean delivery.

The flu vaccine in pregnancy is free, safe for you and your baby and also gives your newborn some protection against a flu virus.

I recommend all pregnant women have a flu vaccine (at any stage of your pregnancy), and encourage partners, children and other family members to also be vaccinated.
